Summary: In this prequel to The Exorcist, Father Merrin (Stellan Skarsgård) is a younger man working on a dig in Africa. One day, a young boy falls ill, exhibiting the same terrifying syndromes that will plague young Regan in years to come. Synopsis: This prequel is set in the late 1940s. The younger Father Merrin is sent as a young missionary priest on a journey to post-WWII Africa. Although his faith had been shaken by his recent experiences in the hellish war, Merrin agrees to work on the African dig, where he encounters a young boy who suddenly falls seriously ill, exhibiting the same syndromes that Regan will undergo in future years. Before long, an age-old evil named Pazuzu fully possesses the boy and Father Merrin is the only one who can stop a burgeoning supernatural plan for world domination.
