Synopsis: Young lawyer Kevin Lomax (Keanu Reeves) is a rising star who has never lost a case. He works in his sleepy hometown in Florida, until he is discovered by a sparkling, charismatic Manhattan lawyer named John Milton (Al Pacino). Milton is impressed with Kevin and offers him a chance at the big time - a place in a large law firm and a beautiful three-bedroom apartment on Fifth Avenue, for starters. Despite the reservations of his religious mother (Judith Ivey), Kevin is seduced by the promise of a ritzy lifestyle and moves to Manhattan with his wife, Mary Ann (Charlize Theron). Kevin quickly scales the corporate ladder, defending people he knows to be guilty, including a demented goat-killer (Delroy Lindo). Kevin also begins to ignore his wife's needs and finds himself attracted to his sexy co-worker (Connie Nielsen). Soon, Mary Ann, obsessed with having her baby, begins to see violent, malevolent visions, and starts to descend into madness, begging Kevin to go back to Florida. Kevin begins to suspect that there may be much more to his slick boss than is apparent to the eye.
