Synopsis: This action/special effects extravaganza takes us back to an old favorite: the character of Godzilla. Created in Japan, the new version here displays a new-looking creature, now a large lizard resulting from a French nuclear test fallout. On one part of the globe, the sky is filled with white light. On another, the ocean swallows a freighter. On yet another, giant footsteps can be found on a long stretch. In the Ukraine, a biologist is studying the impact of the Chernobyl radiation leak on worms, and a military team takes him to the giant footsteps for investigation. They discover that there must be life forms on the planet they are as of yet unaware of. Godzilla finally does surface, in New York at a fish market. The city is evacuated and the biologist and his team follow the creature and find his eggs about to hatch. The scientist's girlfriend, a reporter, tags along and catches the multiple births. With a slew of people with various interests aboard, there is a final showdown between humans and the invading creatures.
