Chow Yun Fat
Chow Yun Fat Chow Yun Fat had humble beginnings as the son of migrant farmers in a house without electricity. By 10, he and his family had moved to Hong Kong where Chow was enrolled in a Maoist school that got him caught up in the Maoist cultural revolution. His mother responded to this by enrolling him in a more conservative school. In 1972 he quit school and began working odd jobs to provide his family with an extra income. A year later a friend convinced him to enroll in an acting school. It did not take long for Yun-Fat to gain popularity and put together a nice resume of television and movie credits. His acclaim only grew from there as he received numerous awards for his work, he even received international acclaim despite the never having appeared in an English speaking role. Though as many predicted, his first role in this capacity was a major hit. Starring in The Replacement Killers, opposite Mira Sorvino, Chow dazzled English speaking audiences.
