Blessed with exotic, sleepy-eyed good looks, Latino character actor Benicio Del Toro broke into the acting mainstream in the mid-90s with a hilariously unintelligible performance in The Usual Suspects. While the dark circles under his eyes burdened him with rumors of a drug habit, those same eyes are a key ornament of the intense sex appeal and unique onscreen charisma that helped Del Toro win an Oscar in 2001.

Del Toro was born into a family of lawyers in Santurce, Puerto Rico. His mother died when he was only nine, prompting a move four years later to Pennsylvania.
