Pierce Brosnan Pierce Brosnan may or may not have been literally destined to play Bond, but those who think he has find it very portentous that he moved from his native Ireland to London the same exact day Ian Fleming, creator of the Bond series, died. His late wife was also a Bond girl once, in 1981's For Your Eyes Only. It also doesn't hurt that Brosnan's dashing good looks give him the perfect Bond physique (although Moore and Connery are tough acts to follow). No matter which way you look at it, the great James and Brosnan are always a match that many are waiting for.

But that's not to say that Pierce Brosnan was born only to play Bond. In his ambitious early days, he dropped out of school because he wanted to be a fire-eater and an illustrator before beginning to act. He wound up studying with a theater troupe for three years, after which he found a measure of fame on the London stage - he was once hand-picked by Tennessee Williams to play a role.
