Julianne Moore Boasting talent, versatility, and one of the most distinctive heads of hair in Hollywood, the prolific Julianne Moore has proven herself equally adept in both mainstream blockbusters and smaller independent films. Despite her high profile, the actress still reads every script she gets sent, and downplays the Hollywood star syndrome, saying: 'I'm looking for the truth. The audience doesn't come to see you, they come to see themselves.'

The daughter of a military judge and a Scottish social worker, Moore was born in Fayetteville, NC, on December 3, 1961. After attending Boston University, she began acting in soap operas. A Daytime Emmy Award and three years later, the actress made her big-screen entrance in 1990 with the schlocky Tales From the Darkside: The Movie.

Two years later, Moore reappeared with supporting parts in feature films including The Hand That Rocks the Cradle. The following year, her exposure increased thanks to four different films
