This attractive, statuesque (5'11'), brunette actress began using the name Sigourney (after a character mentioned in 'The Great Gatsby') in the early 1960s. The daughter of former NBC president Sylvester 'Pat' Weaver and actress Elizabeth Inglis, Weaver graduated from the Yale Drama School one year before Meryl Streep and began her career on the New York stage, appearing in several off-Broadway productions. With fellow Yale grad Christopher Durang, she co-wrote and co-starred in the popular spoof 'Das Lusitania Songspiel' and also had featured roles in shows like 'Lone Star' and 'Gemini'. During this period, the actress lent her patrician air to her TV debut on the soap opera 'Somerset' (NBC), appearing alongside JoBeth Williams and Ted Danson.
