Leelee Sobieski Leelee Sobieski is only 19 years old, but she is one of the most sought after young actresses in Hollywood. Born Liliane, she was raised in France before moving the United States in 1992 with her family. Of Polish descent, with unusual good looks that typically draw comparisons to Helen Hunt, she was spotted by a casting agent visiting her school in New York. She acted in several television roles before landing her first feature film, and she's been on a roll ever since. Because of her young age, she's often told reporters that many of her firsts - her first kiss, for example - happened onscreen before they did in life.

After playing Martin Short's daughter in Disney's Jungle2Jungle (1997), her live action debut was a small part playing the young wife of Elijah Wood in the disaster pic Deep Impact (1998). She impressed the Merchant-Ivory Productions team, who cast her as the daughter of an expat family in A Soldier's Daughter Never Cries, also in 1998. T
