Audrey Tautou Effusively hailed as the heiress to Audrey Hepburn's legendary charm, elfin French actress Audrey Tautou became an international star with her performance as the eponymous do-gooder in the romantic fable Amélie from Montmartre.

Born in Beaumont, France, on August 9, 1978, Audrey was raised in the small French city of Montlucon, where her only passion was to see the Eiffel Tower. As a child she was interested in monkeys and wanted to be a primatologist, but found her true calling when she began to study acting in school. After graduation, Tautou found roles on French TV.

Moving to films, after winning a competition sponsored by Canal+, Tautou quickly made a mark with her performance as a young beautician in Tonie Marshall's critically acclaimed Venus Beauty Institute (1999), earning a César award (the French equivalent of an Oscar) for Most Promising New Actress.
